Save $350 on the DJI Mavic Air drone (Update: Sold out)
Drone popularity has surged in recent weeks, and no surprise there: Flying a quadcopter is a fun activity you can do from the comfort (and social safety) of your own yard. And although there are plenty of toy drones you can get for $100 or less, anyone serious about the sport is no doubt eyeballing a DJI model.
Like this one: For a limited time, and while supplies last, BuyDig has the DJI Mavic Air for $549. That's $50 less than just a couple weeks ago, which was already a $200 savings. And BuyDig throws in a 32GB SanDisk memory card and a second battery, which have a combined value of $104. Put simply: Best Mavic Air deal to date.
Update: BuyDig's supply is running low, but there's another option you might want to consider. DroneNerds has the DJI-refurbished Mavic Air Fly More Combo for $569 with promo code REV5. That nets you three batteries instead of two, a battery charging hub, extra propellers, a travel bag and more. It's literally good as new, right down to the full manufacturer's warranty.
Although this quad is a couple years old, there's nothing dated about the compact folding design, 4K-resolution camera, three-axis gimbal or obstacle-avoidance features.
Read CNET's DJI Mavic Air review to learn more. Verdict: "A folding 4K mini drone that's close to perfect" and the best drone for photos and videos, period.
My advice: If you're the least bit interested, grab one of these before they're gone. They will be, and soon.

Essentials to Pack in Your Diaper Bag
Your diaper bag will become your new sidekick, one you will need to take with you whenever you and your baby leave your home. Ensuring your diaper bag has the proper essentials makes you prepared for any contingency that might arise.
With this in mind, our guide helps you answer the question: What do you need in your diaper bag? We'll also supply tips on organizing it. That way, it makes managing the myriad of items simpler.
Read more: Best Diaper Bags of 2022
The essentials
Like when you pack for a trip, you'll want a checklist of essential items for your diaper bag. Using this list will help you remember everything you need for a successful adventure.
1. Diapers: The rule of thumb is to have one diaper for every two hours you're away from home. Although I recommend bringing a few more just on the off chance you'll need them.
2. A pack of wipes: Essential for when you need to change diapers or if other incidents should happen.
3. Plastic sacks or Ziploc bags: You'll need a place to deposit those full diapers or soiled clothes.
4. Baby ointment: If space is a concern, buy a travel-sized tube and keep one in your diaper bag at all times.
5. Change of clothes: Bringing a fresh pair of clothes ensures your child feels better after a spit-up, spill or other incidents that warrant a clean outfit.
6. Washcloths: Keep at least a couple of these on hand when you're burping or feeding your baby. They'll come in handy if they spit up.
7. Hand sanitizer: It'll keep your hands clean as you care for your baby.
8. Pacifiers: Separate the ones you used from the clean ones by keeping a plastic bag on hand to deposit the used ones in it.
9. Food and water: Plan how long you'll be away from home and pack food accordingly. If your child is a little older, having water and snacks on hand can be a mood-saver.
10. Toys: Keep your baby entertained by packing some of their favorite toys for the trip.
11. Blankets: Blankets keep your child comfortable and can protect them from the sun.
12. Sunscreen: If they're older than six months old, pack sunscreen if you plan to do outdoor activities.
13. First-aid kit: Have bandaids, cleaning ointments and more on hand if an accident happens.
14. Pumping supplies: If you're breastfeeding your baby.
15. Portable changing pad or towels: To change your baby's diaper on the go.
16. Portable phone charger: Taking pictures of your child can drain your battery fast. As such, having a portable charger on hand keeps you in the game.
17. Your items: You have needs too. Consider items you'll need like your phone, keys, credit cards and snacks (keep that energy up).
Diaper bag extras
Along with the assortment of must-have items, it's vital to plan for the unexpected. This list of extras can keep you and your baby happy when you're away from home.
1. An extra shirt for yourself: If an accident happens, you can change and not worry about going home.
2. Hat: When the weather cools, having a warm knit hat for your child keeps them comfortable and warm. Conversely, a lightweight hat in the summer prevents sunburn.
3. Reusable placemats: Having these on hand will be convenient when you eat out.
4. Nursing cover: This helps you maintain some privacy while breastfeeding your baby.
5. Nasal aspirator: It keeps your baby's nose from being stuffy, resulting in a happier kid and a happier you.
6. Nursing pads: These come in handy for moms for the first few weeks after giving birth.
Essentials for caregivers
Having the right tools on hand ensures the baby remains happy and healthy. Here are some items to consider packing in your diaper bag.
1. Nipple cream: It will be helpful if you plan to breastfeed.
2. Socks: Baby socks enjoy falling off regularly. Keeping a couple of fresh pairs on hand ensures they're not wearing dirty ones.
3. Formula bottles: For moms not breastfeeding, pack several formula bottles. Keep the breast or formula cool with a Packit cooler.
4. Snacks for you: Think easily portable snacks, such as fruit, granola bars or nuts.
5. Small sound machine: If your child enjoys lullabies or the soothing rain, this will come in handy.
Diaper bag packing tips
After seeing these lists, you might wonder: How on earth am I going to get all of this stuff into one bag? Rest assured, here are some tips to help you accomplish this.
Remember the essentials
As a parent, you're constantly doing something. It's incredibly easy to forget something important when packing a diaper bag. One way to remember everything is to have a checklist with the absolute essentials. Or develop a code that's easy to remember. Think of the five B's: bottle, burpee, blanket, binky and bite (for toys).
Double-check your bag for diapers
Before you leave home, double-check you have enough diapers on hand for the voyage. Doing so will prevent you from having to make a pit stop on the road.
Pack items seasonally
You won't need a heavy knit hat if your child is outside in the summer. And you don't need to tote sunscreen around if you're visiting the inlaws during the holidays. The key is to prioritize what you need for that day, and take stock every so often -- what haven't you used for a while? Doing so helps you create enough space for the items you need at the moment.
Keep spare items in the car
Another wise consideration is to have a spare bag with extra supplies in your vehicle. It can include diapers, cleaning wipes, bibs or toys -- pretty much anything you use regularly. That way, you don't run out when you're on the road.
Clean and restock it when you arrive home
Upon arriving back home, take inventory of the items you used. Clean the diaper bag and replenish it. Doing so ensures your bag is ready for your next trip.

Intel's Core i9-11980HK leads the way for gaming and creative laptops
If it weren't for the ancillary technologies that come with Intel's latest round of Tiger Lake Core H-series CPUs, today's 11th-gen launch could seem like kind of a snoozefest. Yes, these are the first of the high-power mobile gaming-and-creative-targeted CPUs built on the company's 10-nanometer SuperFin process -- tech that essentially improves current handling to deliver improved performance -- led by an always notable flagship i9, the i9-11980HK. Yes, the i9 is faster than its 10th-gen predecessor. And yes, Intel promises that it's faster than AMD's offerings. Frankly, it would be newsworthy if Intel didn't make those claims. But these chips are basically just an expansion of the line Intel rolled out at CES 2021.
As has become habit with mobile processor launches, Nvidia and Intel have been making them in tandem. At the same time as the new Tiger Lake-H series launch, Nvidia revealed its low-end RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti mobile GPUs.
More of today's news:
That's where Intel debuted the Tiger Lake-H architecture and related process, which (in conjunction with the 500-series chipset) adds support for Thunderbolt 4, Killer Wi-Fi 6E/Gig+, DDR4-3200 memory, dual built-in displays, Optane H20 and 20 lanes of PCIe Gen 4.
Because the Gen 4 allows direct connection to the CPU rather than using a separate bus, it brings with it a couple of notable capabilities for power users. One is Resizeable BAR, which allows the system to allocate an optimal amount of video memory for the CPU to use for graphics operations not otherwise run on the GPU. That means it takes less time to move the graphics data for rendering out to the display, and can eke out some extra graphics performance. (It's similar to AMD Smart Access Memory, which debuted with the Radeon RX 6000 series desktop cards in October 2019.) It also lets manufacturers incorporate bootable SSD RAID arrays using Intel's Rapid Storage Technology. So speedier storage in larger capacities.
Specifications
CPU | Cores / threads | Cache | TDP | Base frequency (GHz) | Max single core frequency (GHz) | Max all core frequency (GHz) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Core i9-11980HK | 8/16 | 24MB | 65W | 2.6 | 5 | 4.5 |
Core i9-11900H | 8/16 | 24MB | 35W | 2.5 | 4.9 | 4.4 |
Core i7-11800H | 8/16 | 24MB | 35W | 2.3 | 4.6 | 4.2 |
Core i5-11400H | 6/12 | 12MB | 35W | 2.7 | 4.5 | 4.1 |
Core i5-11260H | 6/12 | 12MB | 35W | 2.6 | 4.4 | 4 |
Just because the processor and chipset support these capabilities doesn't mean you'll see them in all laptops; some of them, such as implementing PCIe Gen 4, are subject to individual manufacturers' preferences and product-line strategies. The i7 and i9 carry on Intel's incorporation of Turbo Boost 3, notable for its automatic selection of the fastest and most reliable core to boost to the max for single-threaded operations.
There are commonalities across all the CPUs, including integrated Intel UHD Graphics. Intel has stressed that the integrated GPU uses its latest Xe graphics architecture, but as with its desktop 11th-gen (Rocket Lake-S) CPUs chose to brand it with the old, old UHD Graphics nomenclature. That's because one of Intel's requirements for it to carry the Iris Xe brand is at least 80 execution units and these H series chips only have 32 EUs. These CPUs are intended for use in laptops with discrete graphics, so that paucity of EUs can be a minor, if irritating, drawback.
Intel also announced its Tiger Lake-H commercial processors, both Core and Xeon, which use the secure, managed vPro chipset.

Dell XPS 17 9720 (2022) Review: Creative, With a Side of Gaming
If Apple isn't going to make a 17-inch MacBook Pro, then someone else is going to have to. That's what I always think when I see one of Dell's big-screen XPS 17 laptops.
The oldest XPS 17 review of mine I could find dates back to 2011, although I've been covering this particular product line (or its identically named antecedents) since at least 2007.
Speaking of things that happened a long time ago, 2012 was when Apple discontinued the 17-inch MacBook Pro, and frankly there's still an audience out there for a big-screen 17-inch laptop with that same style and vibe -- a sharp, minimalist design wrapped around hardware that's creative-minded, but also great for students and business types.
One of the machines I use regularly is the 16-inch MacBook Pro, with the M1 Max CPU. It's a powerful (and powerfully expensive) laptop, but 16 inches still isn't 17 inches, so I was excited to spend some time with the latest XPS 17.
The least-expensive XPS 17 right now is $1,750 and includes a 12th-gen Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD and a standard 1,920x1,080 display.
This particular configuration adds a lot of noteworthy upgrades to the CPU, graphics and other features. For $2,799 (currently – prices on Dell's website can shift frequently), you get a 12th-gen Intel Core i7, 32GB of RAM, 1TB of SSD storage and the top graphics option in the line right now, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. The 16:10 touchscreen display has a 4K 3,840x2,400 resolution.
The biggest missing piece is probably a higher-res webcam, which has become ever more important in our Zoom meeting work-from-home era. Instead, the 720-resolution camera has added a discrete IR sensor for better overall camera performance. But note that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops, and even the upcoming new MacBook Air, have all upgraded to 1,080-resolution cameras, so it shouldn't be a big ask.
This hulking silver-gray tank of a laptop is built around the same design as the last few generations of this system. It's a CNC-machined aluminum chassis with carbon fiber on the inside. Despite its heft, I like that the lid can be lifted with one hand, or even by a single finger.
The thin bezel around the large screen minimizes any wasted space, even with the webcam tucked into the top border. Ports are on the thin side for a 17-inch laptop, with just 4 USB-C ports and an SD card reader. For HDMI or USB-A needs, you'll need an adapter or dongle.
Work and play
If you're investing in a big, expensive laptop like this, with CPU and GPU chops, it's probably out of professional interest. This will appeal to the Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere experts who are not already locked into Apple platforms.
The 4K display is a big help there, as is the taller 16:10 aspect ratio, which lets you fit more work into the screen at once. I threw some Photoshop projects at the system with no problem and appreciated the extra screen real estate.
Dell's keyboard and touchpad are considered excellent among Windows laptops and I've always liked the XPS versions. That said, the touchpad feels more floaty than Apple's best-in-class version.
But the XPS 17 has another trick for you -- it's also a decent stealth gaming laptop. The GPU options top out at the current-gen Nvidia 3060, so it's not going to match a similarly priced gaming laptop, but that GPU is fine for any current or upcoming game, with one important caveat -- you should dial most games down to 1,920x1,200 (FHD) resolution, or maybe 2,560x1,600 (QHD). These are a little different than the standard resolutions (like 1,920x1,080) you might be used to because this is a 16:10 display, rather than a 16:9 one.
Because my time testing this laptop overlapped with Valve's annual Steam Summer Sale, I had plenty of gaming opportunities with it. Among the recent games I played on the XPS 17 were medieval multiplayer game Chivalry 2, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters and turn-based RPG King Arthur: Knight's Tale. In general games chugged at higher resolutions but ran great at either FHD or usually QHD.
In fact, the XPS 17 became my main gaming laptop for a while, not because it had the greatest gaming hardware, but because it ran games well enough while offering a great large-format screen.
True big screen laptops are rarer than ever, and 16-inch screens are usually the new 17-inch screens for most. If you're determined to find a 17-inch system that mixes the creativity of a MacBook Pro with mainstream gaming chops, the XPS 17 remains one of the only solutions that will satisfy both sides of that equation.

More than nine years after Apple created the first one, Apple's unceremoniously removed its 17-inch laptop from its lineup, announcing just 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pros and the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display at WWDC 2012.
And it's likely that no one will ever miss it.
Apple was the first manufacturer to add a 17-inch laptop to its lineup in 2003 -- the largest screen available from any vendor at the time -- and has had one ever since. But with the new wide-screen, ultrahigh-resolution Retina Display, those extra couple inches might be irrelevant.
After all, mobility is key now, not screen size. It used to be you needed a larger laptop to get performance good enough to replace a desktop, but that's no longer the case. (I mean, look at Apple's tag line above the new models.)
A 15-inch screen is plenty for most purposes when you're traveling, and when you're not, you can connect into an external display. And really, look at how much people can get done on the 9.7-inch iPad screen and 3.5-inch iPhone screen.
What do you think? Is there still a need for a 17-inch MacBook? Do you think it'll make a return when Apple can offer a more affordable 17-inch Retina version?

Samsung TikTok app for smart TVs coming soon to the US
Every TV you can buy these days is oriented for horizontal, "landscape mode" images, but numerous phone apps work best with vertical images, also known as portrait mode. One of the most popular such apps is video-sharing social network TikTok, home of pasta recipes, happy animals and election misinformation.
Samsung says most of its 2021 smart TVs will get a TikTok app in the US later this year, as part of the company's global partnership with TikTok announced in its Unbox and Discover event. The app launched on Samsung TVs in the UK last year and the company says it will come to other markets later in 2021.
Every Samsung TV will get the app but two models are uniquely positioned (pun intended) to take advantage of vertical video. The Sero, launched last year in the US, is a TV whose screen can actually rotate from landscape into portrait mode and back, thanks to a built-in motor. Samsung says TikTok's video will "fit perfectly" on the TV in portrait mode. The Sero is available in one size, 43 inches, and costs a hefty $1,700 (£1,299, AU$1,549).
The The Frame, Samsung's TV designed to mimic wall art, comes in 32-inch and 43-inch sizes. It can also to be set up in portrait mode, albeit without a built-in motor. The 43-inch version is available for preorder now for $1,000 (£599, AU$1,399), while the 32-inch model will come later this year.
The rest of Samsung's TV lineup has the traditional horizontal orientation. These TVs will display TikTok videos with fill-in bars to either side, as pictured above. Judging from its UK incarnation, the Samsung TikTok app is designed for an in-home experience, organized into 12 categories and surfacing the most popular content. You won't need a TikTok account for viewing.
Note that it's possible to watch TikTok videos on a TV today without a dedicated app, for example by mirroring a phone using Apple AirPlay, but the video will typically be displayed vertically with large black bars to either side.
The TikTok app was used as a political football during the 2020 presidential campaign as the Trump administration tried to force a sale of the company and proposed banning it from app stores. That situation has cooled down recently, however. A deal to sell the US operations of TikTok is currently on hold.
Separate from its TikTok announcement, Samsung says the Sero will soon add the ability to work with Apple's AirPlay 2 to control the rotation. Simply rotate your iPhone between portrait and landscape modes and the TV will follow suit automatically. This feature is already available on Android phones aired with the Sero.

MacBook Air with upgraded Apple Silicon could arrive in 2022, analyst predicts
The next version of Apple's MacBook Air with a new version of the company's in-house chip will arrive in the third quarter of 2022, according to a research note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, reported Sunday by 9to5 Mac. Mass production of the new laptop is expected to begin late in the second quarter or early third quarter of next year, he said.
This timeframe is slightly later than in Kuo's earlier estimate. In August, the analyst predicted that the next-gen MacBook Air would arrive in mid-2022. Apple unveiled new Mac computers powered by its M1 chip in 2020, including the MacBook Air.
Although an updated MacBook Pro is rumored to debut later this year, no new Macs made an appearance at Apple's product event earlier this month. Instead, the company debuted its iPhone 13 lineup, alongside the Apple Watch 7, iPad Mini 6 and updated entry-level iPad. The iPhone 13 lineup mirrors last year's iPhone 12 lineup with standard, Mini, Pro and Pro Max models. The updated iPhone runs on Apple's new operating system iOS 15.
Apple didn't immediately respond to CNET's request for comment.

Tesla Price Increases Mean No More California Clean Vehicle Rebates for Buyers
Tesla hasn't been eligible for the federal EV tax credit for a few years now, and while that initially seemed like it could affect sales for the brands by making its already expensive cars even more so, things more or less rolled on like the change never happened.
Fast-forward to 2022: Tesla's latest round of price increases means that, as CarsDirect reported Thursday, Tesla currently has no models eligible for California's Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, which is worth around $2,000 to consumers.
Tesla's eligibility problem specifically stems from price caps set by California to help keep EV prices lower. The threshold for cars is $45,000, and the cap for SUVs and crossovers is $60,000. You can't currently put a Model 3 in your driveway for less than $48,440, including destination fees, and a base-spec Model Y will run you $64,440 (and not get delivered until 2023). Luckily for people who bought before the price increases, CVRP eligibility is based on your vehicle order date, so even if it doesn't get built for a few months, those models should still get the rebate.
The question that remains is whether this will affect the brand's sales in California. Our guess is that it won't. People who want a Tesla will buy a Tesla. A more significant threat to the company's sales, in our opinion, is the introduction of new, quality EVs from legacy manufacturers that offer comparable range with much better build quality and very similar driver assistance tech.

Google Reportedly Offers to Split Ad Tech Business to Fend Off US Antitrust Suit
Google has reportedly offered to make concessions to thwart a possible antitrust lawsuit by the Department of Justice that takes aim at the search giant's ad technology business.
Google proposed splitting off the part of its business "that auctions and places ads on websites and apps into a separate company" under parent Alphabet, according to a report Friday from The Wall Street Journal. The proposed separate company could reportedly be valued at tens of billions of dollars.
It's unclear if the proposed concessions would go far enough for the DOJ, which would prefer asset sales or "deep structural changes" to Google's ad tech business, according to the Journal. The department declined to comment.
Google's massive ad tech business has been under scrutiny from regulators in the US and EU. Google reportedly offered to allow third-party ad platforms on YouTube in an attempt to settle an ongoing antitrust investigation by the European Union without paying a hefty fine. In the US, Google also faces an ongoing lawsuit in Texas that alleges its ad tech business harms rivals by engaging in "false, deceptive, or misleading acts."
Google said it's been engaging with regulators but has "no plans to sell or exit" the ad tech business.
"We have been engaging constructively with regulators to address their concerns," said a Google spokesman in an emailed statement. "Rigorous competition in ad technology has made online ads more relevant, reduced fees, and expanded options for publishers and advertisers."

The Best Fantasy TV Shows on HBO Max
While scrolling through HBO Max's fantasy offerings, Game of Thrones isn't the only TV series deserving of your attention. The streaming service features all flavors of fantasy, from the hilarious to the harrowing.
Here are our top picks for fantasy shows currently available on HBO Max.
Over the Garden Wall (2014)
Half-brothers Wirt (Collin Dean) and Greg (Elijah Wood of Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fame) get lost in a supernatural forest called The Unknown while trying to find their way home. A friendly frog, talking bluebird and mysterious woodsman (voiced by Christopher Lloyd) all accompany them in their quest, while a creepy Beast attempts to turn them into trees. You'll get modern Hansel and Gretel vibes. The 10 episodes are a neat 11 minutes each, so this show doesn't require a huge time commitment.
Infinity Train (2019-2021)
Infinity Train is just what its name implies: A show set on a seemingly endless train, where each train car offers a different fantastical universe, from one that hosts a debutante ball to one that just smells like farts. A variety of changing lead characters tackle the train's mysteries each season, and as the episodes move forward, it turns out the train has a complex backstory and not everything about it stays quite on track. All four seasons are on HBO Max.
Dexter's Laboratory (1996-2003)
Boy genius Dexter, with his Peter Lorre accent, has clueless parents and an older sister who just don't understand his scientific prowess. He can invent a cloning machine, a Beardatron that grows instant facial hair, or teach animals to talk, but he can't seem to get rid of his nemesis, fellow boy genius Mandark. This is the third animated series from Genndy Tartakovsky to make this list, and like the others, it's high-quality crazy creativity all the way.
His Dark Materials (2019-2022)
Based on the popular book series, His Dark Materials follows scrappy orphan Lyra and her daemon (animal companion) Pan as she learns to read a mysterious truth-telling instrument called the alethiometer and embarks on an essential and dangerous journey. CNET's Katie Collins writes that for as much as the adaptation is a fantastical adventure, "it is also a nuanced exploration of religion, philosophy, physics, alchemy, politics and myth." The first two seasons are on HBO Max now, and a third season is on its way.
Samurai Jack (2001-2017)
The lead character in Samurai Jack was sent forward to a dystopian future by a shapeshifting demon named Aku, and must travel back to his own time to stop evil from triumphing. The animated show blends traditional Japanese samurai warfare with robots, monsters, aliens and more. Creator Genndy Tartakovsky was inspired by the 1970s David Carradine show Kung Fu, which sent a Shaolin monk with martial-arts training through the American Old West. HBO Max has all five seasons; the first four, which ran from 2001 to 2004, and the fifth revival season, which ran in 2017 and is considered by many to be a darker , more adult take on the series.
Game of Thrones (2011-2019)
You know nothing, Jon Snow, until you've watched the massive, 73-episode Game of Thrones series. You might not love the controversial ending, but the show itself, with its dragons, White Walkers, direwolves and more, is a fantasy masterwork. Just don't get too attached to any of the characters, as few of them get happy endings. Oh, all right. You can cling to Tyrion (Peter Dinklage).
Rick and Morty (2013—)
Is Rick and Morty fantasy? Sci-fi? Something else? The acclaimed adult animation series focuses on mad scientist Rick, his grandkids Morty and Summer Smith, and their parents, all going on bizarre adventures across dimensions. In one episode, Rick learns that he may have impregnated a planet -- not a resident of the planet, but the actual planet. You kinda have to watch it to understand.
The Powerpuff Girls (1998-2005)
Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup aren't your average kindergarteners: They're superhero sisters with a scientist dad, Professor Utonium, and they help their city, Townsville, fight off criminals. They're possibly the cutest and toughest girl-power superheroes ever. The show aired from 1998 to 2005 on Cartoon Network, and all six seasons are now on HBO Max.
The Leftovers (2014-2017)
The Leftovers, based on Tom Perotta's 2011 novel, tells the story of a world where 2% of the population simply vanishes in an event that comes to be known as the Sudden Departure. It's not the story of those who vanished as much as of those they left behind, who must try to come to grips with the unexplainable loss. All three seasons are on HBO Max.
Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal (2019—)
Genndy Tartakovsky, known for Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory, among other animated classics, took inspiration for Primal from pulp novels and the like. It's about the bond between a caveman and a Tyrannosaurus, bonded by tragedy, who struggle forth as the most unusual pair of buddies. While the series is far from silent, there's no dialogue, so get prepped for that. The first 10-episode season is on HBO Max now.
Steven Universe (2013-2020)
The magic of Steven Universe doesn't come through in a simple plot explanation. In this dazzlingly deep animated show, Steven Universe has adventures while surrounded and supported by his friends, the Crystal Gems, magical humanoids who teach him about love, loss and family. (Steven himself is half-human, half-Gem.) All five seasons, plus the Steven Universe Movie, and an epilogue series, Steven Universe Future, are on HBO Max.
Lovecraft Country (2020)
There's horror, there's supernatural, and yes, there are fantasy elements in Lovecraft Country, the acclaimed 2020 HBO series about a Black man traveling through the segregated South in the 1950s. Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) is hunting for his missing father, and he must battle not only racism and prejudice, but horrific, nonhuman monsters reminiscent of an H.P. Lovecraft novel.
Adventure Time (2010-2018)
Jake the Dog and Finn the Human live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, where they interact with such colorful creations as the Ice King (voiced by Tom Kenny, voice of SpongeBob SquarePants), Princess Bubblegum, and more. Don't be fooled by the idea that this is a kid's show: Adventure Time is also beloved by adults.

Use Windows 10's new PowerToys to tidy your desktop and remind you of shortcuts
For those longing for the days of Windows 95 and its useful collection of PowerToys utilities, Microsoft is letting you add helpful little extensions that make Microsoft's desktop more delightful to use on Windows 10 ($144 at Amazon).
PowerToys, Microsoft's playful name for a series of free Windows add-ons first developed for Windows 95, gives users greater flexibility when performing a variety of Windows tasks, such as arranging windows and recalling keyboard shortcuts, two functions the new PowerToys utilities improve in Windows 10.
The first, FancyZones, allows you to create a prearranged grid on your desktop that will automatically resize windows to fit into a predetermined layout -- useful for those who work with a lot of open windows and like to keep them all accessible and organized without having to constantly adjust them.
The second and less-imaginatively-named Shortcut Guide allows you to bring up a cheat sheet of available keyboard shortcuts for whatever app is currently active, including the Windows 10 desktop itself. If you forget which shortcuts to use, this tool can jog your memory much faster than navigating the menu options to find them.
How to download and install PowerToys
You can quickly download and set up PowerToys for Windows 10.
1. To get started with PowerToys, first download the installer from GitHub, where Microsoft is hosting the first two PowerToys. You want the PowerToysSetup.msi file.
2. If given a choice, choose whether you'd like to save the .msi file on the desktop or in a file folder, then locate the file when the download completes.
3. Open the PowerToysSetup.msi file, which will bring up the PowerToys Setup Wizard.
4. Click Next, check the box agreeing to the licensing agreement and click Next again.
5. The next dialog gives you the option of changing the default installation folder from Program Files, whether you want PowerToys icons to go in the Start menu and on the desktop and if you want PowerToys to start up at login.
6. Once you've made your choices, click Next and then Install.
7. After it finishes, a box indicating that setup is complete will pop up and give you the option to Launch PowerToys. Leave that box checked and click Finish.
How to set up PowerToys
1. Youshould now see a rainbow-colored PowerToys icon in your taskbar over on the lower right of your screen. Open it to bring up Settings.
General Settings shows a list of available PowerToys tools: FancyZones and Short Guide both are toggled on by default.
2. Beneath General Settings in the left-hand column, click FancyZones to adjust the settings for that utility, which is designed to simplify multitasking on Windows. You can choose from different configurations to arrange your windows and customize their layout.
3. Beneath FancyZones, select Shortcut Guide from the left column. This utility shows common keyboard shortcuts that use the Windows key. You can control how long you must press the Windows key before showing the shortcut guide, as well as control the opacity of the guide that pops up.
That's it -- close the PowerToys Settings window and you're finished. Now you can enjoy an enhanced Windows 10 experience thanks to Microsoft's first batch of PowerToys for Windows 10.
